Mission Statement
Learn AI For Investors began with a simple observation: AI is moving fast, but most investors have not had a clear way to build hands-on skills. We saw very few spaces where people could learn what is real, what is applicable today, and how to apply AI in day-to-day investment work.
Who We Are
Learn AI For Investors is led by two friends, Grisel and Ibrahim, who are passionate about bringing practical AI to investment teams.
Grisel
I’ve had experience in academic research, public policy, and venture capital. I enjoy refining processes, testing out new tools, and figuring out how to spend more time on meaningful work.
Our Story
We met on an impact investing panel at the University of Chicago. After the panel, we kept talking, became friends, and even ended up taking tango classes together. Around that time, both of us became increasingly involved with Chicago:Blend and the venture ecosystem in Chicago.
In June 2025, Grisel gave a Chicago:Blend talk at Chicago Tech Week called “Cognition Unchained: How AI will change our workday.” That talk clarified something important: the investors who would succeed were not just “following AI,” they were building fluency by testing tools, comparing workflows, and learning together.
Not long after, we attended a Chicago:Blend alumni meetup at Millennium Park. We talked about how AI might change investment jobs, career paths, and the everyday work of diligence, research, writing, and decision-making. We followed up with a Zoom, and that Zoom turned into what we wanted for ourselves: a live screen share where people could show their work, ask practical questions, and learn in real time.
We designed Learn AI For Investors around a few principles we care about:
• Practical over performative: decision-useful skills you can apply immediately
• Show the work: real demos, real workflows, real conversations about constraints
• Peer learning: built for practitioners who want to get better together
• No solicitation: not a pitch stage, not a lead-gen funnel
Chicago:Blend helped us go from an organic meetup to a consistent monthly series. We continue to be involved with the organization, and we are grateful for the guidance, feedback, and early support that helped us build a community focused on skill development.
Today, Learn AI For Investors is a growing community of hundreds of investors across venture capital, family offices, and impact investing, with members joining from around the world. Our focus is still the same: upskilling investors with practical AI workflows, sharing resources openly, and building a community that learns by doing.
